Region Codes

When buying a DVD in a foreign country, or through the internet, you must make sure that the DVD you are buying is of the same region code as your DVD player.
This is because the world is divided into seven different regions (plus the 0 region, the 8 region and the ALL region).

The dividing is roughly:
Region 0 - All regions are included.
Region 1 - Canada, USA and USA territories.
Region 2 - Europe, most of Asia, South Africa.
Region 3 - Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea.
Region 4 - Caribbean, Central America, South America.
Region 5 - Africa, India, former Soviet Union, North Korea.
Region 6 - China
Region 7 - Reserved for future use.
Region 8 - Reserved for use in international venues, for example on airplanes and on cruise ships.
Region ALL - All regions are set for this DVD can be played on any DVD player.

There exists special software that you can load onto your computer to let the DVD player in your computer know that there are no region codes. It ‘deletes’ the region code specific for your DVD player in your computer so to speak.
That way you can watch all DVD’s from all regions on the DVD player in your computer.
However, this is not possible for standalone DVD players and for portable DVD players.

Again, I’m saying this, please be a 100% sure that you buy a DVD with the region code that applies to your region (for example, if you live in India, buy a Region 5 DVD, if you live in the USA, buy a Region 1 DVD).
The DVD will NOT work on another Region DVD Player, unless it is a Region 0 DVD or ALL DVD.
